How to strike a balance between work, life, and wedding planning

If you want to enjoy planning your dream wedding, then you need to enjoy your life as well!

Whether you have children, you love holidays, or you have a really demanding job, all of these things matter, and they still matter during the wedding planning stress and madness.

One of the areas we work with you on at The Wedding Hand is your priorities and how these priorities play out in life and in your wedding. You need to bear these priorities in mind throughout your wedding planning journey, they may change, they adapt in importance, but those priorities matter to the wedding planning process because they matter to you.

Before you do anything else, envision your wedding planning dream, what does it look like? What does it feel like? What are you doing? Who else is involved?

Draw a circle on a piece of paper and split it into 8 sections.

In each of those 8 segments, I want you to write down a priority for you in your wedding planning journey. It may be getting hubby to be on board, the budget, it may be prioritising the kids, or learning new skills, choosing the best possible band or the prettiest bouquets. Anything at all! Really think about what truly matters to you in wedding planning.

Great – you’ve made the first step!

Now the centre of the circle is 1, the priority area is not where you want or need it to be, and the outside is 10, your wedding planning dream is already a reality, draw a little cross for each priority area to say where you are on a scale of 1-10. See the example version for what this can look like.

I bet there’s some areas where you surprised yourself there… I am sure there is something you’re doing really well, what is it?

And those priority areas where you are struggling, what is one thing you could do to move yourself one step closer to that 10 out of 10 dream wedding planning experience for that priority?

Great… when are you going to do it? Be specific…

The answer is inside yourself. It always is… even if you don’t believe in yourself, or you’re stressed or overwhelmed, it’s in there. I promise!

You just learnt how to plan your wedding whilst prioritising yourself and everything else going on in your life. If you aren’t planning the wedding in the way you want to plan your wedding, then change it, who cares what social media or your friends tell you to do, it’s you and your partner that matter.

The Wedding Hand support you through this exciting, turbulent, overwhelming and out right fun journey of planning your wedding through finding the answers for yourself. Reference this article when you get in touch with The Wedding Hand for a free trial coaching session!
