Anita Golob is an Independent Celebrant offering Celebrant Services for Wedding Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows, Namings and Funerals.
Yorkshire Brides | Weddings popped Anita in the hot-seat to discuss all things celebrancy!
When, how, and why did you start your celebrancy business?
I launched Lovage Ceremonies after realising that weddings could benefit from more personality and heart! Why settle for the same words read a thousand times? A wedding ceremony should be as unique as the love you’ve found. With a background in radio, writing, and producing, I've always been fascinated by the power of words—how they can shape a story, capture a moment, and bring people together. After completing my celebrant training and becoming an accredited, Independent Celebrant, I wanted to offer couples something truly special: a ceremony that’s as unique as their love story!
How did you get involved within the wedding industry?
I have always been captivated by people’s journeys, especially love stories. Considering a career as a celebrant seemed to align perfectly with my personality and skills, and I believed it would be both fulfilling and satisfying. The turning point for me came when I read my own piece at a friend's wedding. The positive response was overwhelming! Many guests approached me afterward, not only to congratulate me but also to suggest that I should become a celebrant if I wasn't one already. It became clear to me that this was the path I should follow.
What makes your services unique?
With years of experience in radio, I bring plenty of imagination to the table! I’ll create a one-of-a-kind, bloomin’ fabulous, completely unique ceremony that celebrates the couple's love story and vision, delivered with a beaming smile that can be seen from space. Why? Because I just love, LOVE!
What sets Lovage Ceremonies apart is not only my commitment to creating bespoke, deeply personal ceremonies but a genuine wish to create something truly special, that will be remembered for years to come.
From our first consultation, I aim to listen and inspire, whether the couple is planning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration.
What can a couple expect from you on the day of their wedding or in the build-up to their big day?
On their wedding day, couples can expect an unflappable, calm, confident, and supportive celebrant who arrives early and ensures everything runs smoothly. Leading up to the big day, we’ll meet multiple times to discuss every detail, from vows to special rituals, and I’m always available for questions. In fact, I set up a ‘WhatsApp wedding’ chat so that they can reach out at any time – from the moment of booking to the day of the ceremony itself. I also work closely with other vendors to ensure everything flows seamlessly so the couple can enjoy their special day stress-free.
What is your favourite part of a wedding day?
My favourite part is undoubtedly the exchanging of the vows. There’s something incredibly special about standing with a couple during this moment. The emotions—love, joy, anticipation—are always so palpable, and it’s an honour to witness such a meaningful commitment. Helping couples create a ceremony that reflects their unique bond is what makes this job truly magical!
Can you advise your booking process?
Before booking, I offer a discovery call (either in person or via video chat) to discuss how their ceremony could look. It's a great opportunity for couples to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. Once a booking is confirmed, I’ll send through a contract and booking form, and just a 25% deposit is needed to secure that all-important date. We’ll then schedule follow-up meetings to craft the perfect ceremony, discuss ideas, and go over details like music and readings. I also guide the couple through any legals, such as giving notice. I’m here to guide and support them every step of the way!
Are you appearing at any wedding fairs, where couples can meet you in person?
Yes! I regularly attend local wedding fairs – I met so many wonderful couples last weekend at the Love & Luxe Wedding Show at Rudding Park! Up and coming dates include:
Spring 2025 Wedding Show at Oulton Hall, Leeds on Sunday 9th February 2025
Big Yorkshire Wedding Show at Sandburn Hall, on Sunday 2nd March 2025
The ‘Elite Collection’ UK Wedding Event at Allerton Castle on Sunday 23rd March 2025
It provides couples a chance to meet me in person, ask questions, and get a feel for my style and personality. It’s a wonderful opportunity to chat, explore ceremony ideas, and see if we’re the right fit. Details of upcoming wedding fairs will always be shared on Instagram.
I’m based within North Yorkshire but I’m also available as a destination celebrant. I specialise in the gorgeous Garfagnana region of North Tuscany (often described as Italy’s hidden gem) and can speak Italian... but wherever and whatever your dream ceremony entails, we can make it a reality. Have passport, can travel! We’ll chat through all the possibilities and I’ll also help you with the legals here within the UK.
It’s always best to book your celebrant early – as soon as you’ve booked the date in with the venue! This especially rings true during peak season, to secure your preferred date. Feel free to get in touch anytime to discuss ideas or check availability—I’d love to help you create the wedding of your dreams!
Lovage Ceremonies has limited availability for 2025, with their 2026/2027 diary now open.
