Katie Thornton runs The Glam Studio in Skipton, North Yorkshire. She has always had a passion to work in hair & make-up artistry from a young age.
Katie started her career in MUA/Special effects training at college where she grew her talent through creating many different styles. Katie went onto work within makeup counters & training for high-end luxury designers including Dior and Chanel. Within this industry, she worked on many editorial shoots and catwalk events that only encouraged her passion for hair & MUA.
As part of her flourishing career, Katie also held a Senior Therapist role at The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa, Yorkshire, and it was here that she delved further into the wedding industry. Alongside her main role she also gained experience working with many brides for their hair & make-up.
Katie has the ability to create a full spectrum of styles which gives her a unique edge in the world of weddings. In Katie's own words 'No one shoes fits all, and what the bride wants the bride gets'
Katie prides herself on the fact that she can offer the full package for hair & MUA, as well as providing additional unique offerings, such as glitter bars for hen dos or wedding reception entertainment.
Katie loves being an addition to any bridal party, and because she can service both hair & makeup, this makes parties with small numbers an intimate affair, which for some brides is brilliant!
Katie comments "My favourite part of any wedding is helping the bride with other items, for example helping them into their dress - which is a really sincere and beautiful moment, that I am always so grateful to be a part of. The moments where its just myself and the bride, and the bride finally comes to the realisation that she is soon to be a wife! These are all such special personal moments that I am so lucky to share with them!"
If you are interested in booking Katie for your day, she first starts with the enquiry, which will be a consultation call, and it is here that you can communicate your full requirements, and discuss the wedding morning. Following the call, Katie will send you over a quote, and if confirmed a deposit is then taken for your date. Once your date is secured, you can rest-assured that your wedding will be the only wedding booking on that day.
Katie explains "I never book more than one wedding per day as I will always be there with the bridal party till the bride walks down the aisle, for touch ups etc, but also to aid with any duties that the bride or party may require! Above & beyond is my motto, and I am always happy to aid with first looks etc. I always carry my emergency bridal kit just in case!"
Trials are usually booked and held 6-8 weeks before your day, so Katie can assess your initial look and source the correct products that you will require. If you change your mind on style after the initial trial, there is no pressure to keep that style for your day and Katie will work with you to make sure everything is perfect. A £100.00 deposit is taken to secure the day, with the remaining balance due 2 weeks before the wedding.
